The Jasper County community is mourning the tragic loss of 22-year-old Drew Peterson of Worden, Illinois, who died following a fatal incident on Interstate 80 near Colfax on Sunday evening.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Peterson was driving a 2022 Honda Accord westbound when the vehicle was struck by tires and rims that had come loose from a semi-trailer. The semi, driven by 57-year-old Rose Burns of Jackson, Tennessee, was traveling eastbound when the equipment crossed the median and collided with Peterson’s car.
Peterson sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact circumstances.
